FAQ
How do I use the camera's night vision?
Behind the camera’s monitor is a switch labeled ‘infrared’. Turn this on and the camera instantly becomes sensitive to infrared light.
The camera has an integrated 850nm infrared light in its top handle. When the camera is in infrared mode, this can be turned on or off from the menu.
What does the night vision look like?
The XA60 automatically converts the infrared image to black and white. In the menu you can choose green instead if you prefer a ‘military’ style night vision look.
Do you supply infrared lighting?
The camera has an integrated 850nm infrared light in its top handle. When the camera is in infrared mode, this can be turned on or off from the menu.
We also have a small selection of additional infrared lighting available on request.
Does the camera need infrared filters?
No, the camera doesn’t require any infrared filters. When the infrared mode is off, the camera functions and records images normally. The camera is only sensitive to infrared light in infrared mode.
I've seen some crazy coloured infrared imagery. Can I do that?
No, this infrared camera is primarily used for night vision applications.
If you would like to use infrared for creative applications, we recommend our full spectrum FX3. This can be used in combination with different infrared filters that produce different colour effects.
