The Northwest Passage is one of the most remote and challenging journeys on earth…

What is our biggest hook? The danger? Is it actually dangerous anymore? Science?

History angle – Over 400 years of failed attempts between 1497 and 1906 until Roald Amundsen. Franklin exped, new evidence. Going to the places of history’s greatest mystery.

Scientific angle – Home to some of the most important and vulnerable ecosystems on the planet. Prime opportunity for front line research into climate change, ice cover and biodiversity loss. As this is a voyage undertaken by many ships since the first, including small ships (almost 500 ship have done it) is the angle that due to climate change and receding arctic sea ice, it’s more possible to get into previously unreachable places.

Human angle – Inuit communities that still live in the high Arctic in harsh conditions. Explorer history and the experts/talent onboard the ship.
